This automation case features a ceiling-mounted 12-meter range extender paired with a Universal Robots UR10 to automate auxiliary tasks for three CNC machines. To meet the high-volume requirements of a critical production contract, three CNC lathes needed to be reorganized within a tight timeframe. By utilizing Vention’s range extender and intuitive design software, the team successfully automated the entire machine tending and post-processing inspection system using a single robot.

Components

Robot
  • Robot: Universal Robots UR10

    • Payload: 10kg

    • Reach: 1,300mm

    • Weight: 33.5kg

    • Max Speed: 1m/s

    • Repeatability: ±0.05mm

    • Note: The collaborative robot model can be customized upon request.

  • System Extension: 12m Ceiling-Mounted Range Extender (Vention)

    • Function: Enables a single robot to traverse across multiple CNC stations, maximizing workspace efficiency.

Workflow

STEP 1.
Picking: The robot picks the raw workpiece.
STEP 2.
Transit: Moves across the workshop via the 12m ceiling-mounted range extender.
STEP 3.
Loading: Sequentially inserts workpieces into each of the three CNC machines.
STEP 4.
Retrieval: Picks the finished parts after the machining cycle is complete.
STEP 5.
Inspection: Inserts the finished parts into an automated inspection unit.
STEP 6.
Palletizing: Places the inspected final products onto the finished goods rack.
