Process Overview
This assembly automation solution uses a YUSHIN take-out robot (SCⅡ-150) to automate the process of insert-molding a steel plate into a plastic injection-molded part during production. By automating both the insert-loading operation and the downstream inspection process, the system minimizes control points while improving overall productivity.
Components
- Robot
YUSHIN SCII-150D (for insert loading) 5-axis Cartesian robot + 90° tilting arm, payload 5 kg, repeatability ±0.1 mm Work envelope/stroke: Travel 1,500 mm / Fore–aft 468 mm / Vertical 850 mm 3-axis Cartesian unit: Vacuum grippers ×2
- Peripherals
EOAT / Tooling - Tool changer (rotary type): tool change via rotation - Pneumatic grippers ×4 (for part take-out) - Vacuum grippers ×4 (for insert loading) Peripheral Equipment - Injection molding equipment (optional / separate) - Bowl feeder (steel plate feeding) - Steel plate loading jig - Finished-product discharge conveyor
Workflow
- STEP 1.
- Singulate and feed two steel plates at a time via the bowl feeder
- STEP 2.
- Pick two steel plates per cycle and place them into the 8-position loading jig
- STEP 3.
- Pick a set of eight steel plates and transfer them to the injection molding machine
- STEP 4.
- Take out the molded part and load the steel plates
- STEP 5.
- Discharge the finished product via the outfeed conveyor.
